The Marianas Trench bounding the Pacific Plate is subducted beneath the Philippine Plate. The bottom of the trench is deeper than the tallest mountain peak on earth or a maximum depth of 10,911 meters (35,797 feet).
The 2nd deepest location in the world is in the Philippines called the Philippine Deep, also known as the Mindanao Trench. The deepest point(Galathea Depth) measures 10,540 meters (34,580 feet). In 1927, the German ship Emden was first recorded to measure its depth.
